The Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) is a centrally sponsored scheme launched by the Government of India under the Ministry of Panchayati Raj with the primary objective of strengthening the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs). These institutions constitute the third tier of governance in India and play a crucial role in decentralized planning, local governance, and rural development. The scheme focuses on capacity building, training, and institutional strengthening of elected representatives and functionaries of Panchayats to enable them to function effectively as units of self-government.
